EMCOTEC and the Environment
Environmental protection is an integral part of EMCOTEC GmbH’s
business practices and we are actively engaged in meeting today’s significant
environmental and occupational health and safety challenges. Our processes are optimized
to minimize environmental impact and to ensure compliance with regulatory directives
such as ElektroG, the German implementation of the WEEE-directive (Waste from Electrical
and Electronic Equipment) and VerpackV, the German Ordinance on the Avoidance and Recovery
of Packaging Wastes.
ElektroG (Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act)
RoHS Conformity ("Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances")
based on EU Directive 2002/95/EC
Beginning with the earliest stages of product design environmental considerations play an
integral role in all EMCOTEC products. We take exceptional care to ensure that our products
do not contain any substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury, chromates or other substances
prohibited by the RoHS directive.
WEEE Conformity ("Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment")
based on EU Directive 2002/96/EC
EMCOTEC’s products registered in accordance with the WEEE directive are classified
as “Toys, leisure and sports equipment” as defined in category 7 of the Electrical
and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). EMCOTEC and EAGLE TREE SYSTEMS products may be returned
free of charge at the nearest public collection point and are ecologically disposed in accordance
with ElektroG. Conformity is documented by the "Stiftung Elektro-Altgeraete Register”
(EAR), the German national clearing house, under the registration number
WEEE-Reg.-Nr. DE 61612258.
VerpackV ("Ordinance on the Avoidance and Recovery of Packaging Wastes")
To ensure compliance with regulations concerning the return of packaging materials we
have retained the services of "INTERSEROH Dienstleistungs GmbH" and are thereby
affiliated with the “dualen Entsorgungssystem“ specialized in package disposal
and recovery. Our license number is: 143629 . Our packaging corresponds to the 5th
Amendment of VerpackV.
Battery Law (BattG)
based on EU Directive 2006/66/EG
According to §18 BattG we like to inform you that our batteries are marketed conforming to effective law
and also want to point out the following:
- Our products contain rechargeable batteries (Lithium++).
- In order to avoid environmental and/or health impact old batteries must be returned to recycling locations
operated by communities or returned to the retail market for controlled disposal. This return is regulated
by law and totally free of charge for you.
- Batteries must only be returned discharged and, as far as LiPo batteries are concerned, their terminals should
be covered for disposal. In order to fully discharge a LiPo battery, store the battery in salty water (e.g.
5 table spoons salt dissolved in 2.6 gallons (10 liter) of water) for a couple of hours. Discharge must only
take place outdoor because flammable gases (hydrogen) can result.
- Because of recycling old batteries, valuable raw materials like Zinc, Iron, Nickel, etc. can be regained.
- Batteries mounted in our devices can be easily removed for disposal.
- The “crisscrossed trash can” symbol on batteries means that disposal in residual waste is forbidden by law!
Additional signs for Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd) and Mercury (Hg) mean that these materials contained in these
batteries exceed limits given by law. This is not the case in batteries marketed by us.
Responsibility for a clean environment! EMCOTEC’s commitment is
second nature!!
